Welcome to the Real World, Sister
This past summer was a huge learning experience for me. I got my first real taste of the real world. Besides my internship, I took two summer courses online all while maintaining my social life, of course. I was a busy lady and I loved it.
I worked for a boutique public relations firm called Crockett Public Relations as the PR intern. The firm specializes in everything that falls into the women's lifestyle category. My official duties were to manage our client's social media, write press releases to introduce new products, and manage the company blog. I absolutely loved what I did. One of the most valuable things I took away from this internship was that I found my writing voice. I was responsible for writing two original blog posts a week. Throughout the 12 weeks of my internship, I developed my own personal writing style and grew to love writing. In order to research for my blog posts, I would need to spend a lot of time reading other blogs posts and spending hours on Yahoo and the Huffington Post. This allowed me to learn so much about everything from current events in politics to the latest fashion trends. It was basically a blast. My boss even published one of my articles to the Huffington Post.
Besides work, I spent a lot of time doing schoolwork. This part of my summer wasn't hard at all, which I was extremely happy about. This left room for working out and hanging out with my boyfriend and friends. It was a great summer. It made me excited about post-college life.
